The Walsh Bay Redevelopment in Sydney, for example, is one of the most significant urban renewal projects in the history of Australia. Like Beachside Leighton, the site was in a remarkable location and had heritage value, yet was disused and decaying.
Through successfully integrating restored built heritage with contemporary architecture and high-quality urban planning, Mirvac Design transformed the forgotten into the unforgettable. So far, the Walsh Bay Redevelopment has been showered with 59 separate industry awards.
In Western Australia, Quay West Resort Bunker Bay is an exceptional example of design working with its environment. Building materials, oreintation and placement all respond to the Resort’s surroundings, as do the open spaces and the vegetation.
Surfaces are inspired by the beach and the bush, and the work of local stonemasons and artists was seamlessly incorporated into the project. The result is a unique sense of place, and a raft of awards for excellence in both design and construction.
