APPROPRIATE DESIGN HAS BEEN A KEY PRIORITY OF BEACHSIDE LEIGHTON, IN A VISUAL, AN ENVIRONMENTAL, AND A CULTURAL SENSE.

This will be a thoroughly sustainable community. Buildings have been designed for water-efficiency and energy-efficiency and landscaping is waterwise; public transport is seamlessly integrated.

To ensure Beachside Leighton complements the surrounding pedestrian environment, the architectural thinking has gone beyond efficiencies, and looked at the buildings’ visual impact on their surroundings. Where the buildings rise to five storeys, upper levels have been set back and faced in dark tones to minimise the sense of height at ground level.

Beachside Leighton has also been conceived to complement the existing culture of its local community. Along with its materials and colour palette inspired by the surrounding textures and structures, its landscaping includes many mature trees, including the classic Fremantle Norfolk Pine.

The master plan incorporates public spaces and social gathering places both in keeping with, and adding to, the life of Leighton and North Fremantle.
